Set on Lapadska obala, beside the pool of Hotel Lapad, one of Dubrovnik’s oldest hotels, Piccola Venezia has long been one of those easygoing city spots where afternoons quietly turn into evenings. A drink after work, a relaxed meeting with friends, a summer cocktail under the open sky. This season, however, the familiar tapas and lounge bar has added something new to its story.
Piccola Venezia has introduced a fresh street food concept, designed to be casual, modern and accessible, while still focused on quality ingredients, homemade sauces and flavours that feel both familiar and a little more playful.
A New Street Food Menu by the Pool
The new menu brings together dishes made for sharing, tasting and enjoying without formality. Among the most popular choices is the burger, prepared with quality meat and served as one of the highlights of the offer.
Another dish that has quickly attracted attention is the crispy beef cheek, served with a summer salad, lemon dressing and confit tomatoes. It is a combination that brings together richer flavours and lighter seasonal notes, making it a good choice for a warm Dubrovnik evening.
For something fresher, there is the Venezia salad, inspired by the classic Caesar salad but given a Mediterranean twist with crispy prawn tails. The menu also includes bao buns with pulled pork, as well as a seafood version with crispy prawns.
Flavours of Dalmatia to Share
Alongside the new street food dishes, Piccola Venezia has kept the idea of tapas and sharing plates at the heart of its offer. The Flavours of Dalmatia platter brings together prosciutto, pancetta, cheese in oil, sheep’s cheese and grissini, while seafood lovers can choose a selection of marinated prawns, anchovies, octopus and swordfish prosciutto.
During the season, the kitchen is open from 11 am to 11 pm, making it an easy stop for lunch, a light dinner or a late bite with a cocktail.
A White Pizza with a Seaside Feeling
This spring, Piccola Venezia has also added pizzas to the menu. One of the most distinctive choices is the Piccola Venezia Mare, a white pizza made with white sauce, olive oil, garlic, mozzarella, prawns, smoked salmon, rocket and capers.
It is not a classic pizza combination, and that is precisely the point. The idea is to keep the food simple and relaxed, but with enough character to make it memorable. Tortillas with tuna and chicken are also part of the offer, keeping the concept informal and easy to enjoy.
Cocktails and Music Under the Stars
Piccola Venezia pays just as much attention to the bar as it does to the kitchen. Its signature cocktails are imagined as refreshing summer favourites, including the Frozen Piccola Venezia with white rum, lime, orange, mango purée and grenadine, and the Weisses Schloss with vodka, peach juice, coconut, orange and grenadine.
Live music adds to the atmosphere five days a week by the pool of Hotel Lapad. It is close enough to create a summer mood, but relaxed enough to allow conversation, which makes it well suited for evenings that begin quietly and continue late into the night.
The venue also keeps local guests in mind. Dubrovnik residents have a 20 percent discount, while free parking is available at the hotel car park.
A Sweet Finish
Desserts complete the experience. Prepared daily by the in-house pastry team, the sweet selection includes raspberry parfait in white chocolate, creamy coconut mousse and pistachio and almond cake.
For those who prefer a classic ending, the lava cake with vanilla ice cream remains one of those simple pleasures that rarely disappoints.
With its new street food concept, cocktails, music and poolside setting on Lapadska obala, Piccola Venezia is shaping itself as one of Lapad’s relaxed summer addresses, a place for an easy lunch, an evening with friends or a warm Dubrovnik night under the stars.
